The Corneille competition
The Corneille Competition – Concours International de chant baroque de Normandie - is organized by Le Poème Harmonique. Its aim is to provide young performers with an opportunity to showcase their talent before both the public and leading figures from the international Baroque music scene, helping them launch distinguished professional careers. The Competition brings together a jury of renowned artists, teachers, and producers, and develops partnerships designed to offer its prizewinners the best possible career opportunities.
Through this initiative, Le Poème Harmonique continues its commitment to the Baroque repertoire, encouraging young musicians to engage with both celebrated and lesser-known works. The Competition is therefore designed as a forum for promoting Baroque music, going beyond the competitive dimension alone.
The Corneille Competition offers a unique opportunity for audiences in Normandy to engage with the Baroque repertoire. Held over several days, the various rounds allow listeners to explore this music in depth through the diversity of the programmes presented. The event is therefore both educational and welcoming in spirit, while fostering artistic excellence and musical individuality.
What happens after the Corneille Competition?
In 2023, Le Poème Harmonique launched the Nouvelles Voix en Normandie tour. Designed to support the professional development of prizewinners, it offers them the opportunity to perform some of the finest works of the Baroque repertoire in remarkable and often unexpected heritage venues across Normandy.
